Rockford will finally get a casino. Locations are being proposed, including our plan for a downtown, urban casino at the Waterpower Entertainment District. There is still hesitation from some people to a downtown location, with many expressing their feelings that the downtown is a “dead zone”- but this couldn’t be further from the truth.
Rockford’s downtown area is on the rise, vibrant, and visited by thousands of Rockfordians and our surrounding community neighbors for the past few years. New restaurants, retail, entertainment venues, and the hotel/conference center are popping up along the bed of the beautiful and mighty Rock River. The addition of the entertainment district, including the proposed casino, hotels, retail, restaurants, parking decks, and aquarium, would exponentially increase the downtown buzz. An urban casino complex would employ over a thousand workers and attract thousands of daily visitors, allowing them to spend their money in the downtown’s lively new business district.
